Barry Bartlett, Course Director
Mike Lowe, Managing Director

Mike entered the industry in the mid sixties and joined the Britannia Row Productions main board 27 years ago. He started from school as a roadie in Liverpool in the midst of the Mersey Beat, moving to London in 1969.

After several years working as a freelance sound engineer and production manager, Mike entered the sound rental business in the late 1970’s and has spent the last quarter of a century helping build Britannia Row Productions. All Mike's knowledge has been gained through experience.

"The industry has matured and this route is now rarely possible. Anyone can buy equipment, what differentiates one sound company from another, or one venue’s in-house sound from another, is the quality of their people. I have always believed in training and helping people reach their potential and when they have got there, helping them reach it further!”

Pete Kalopsioiotos (Pete the Greek)

Peter (the Greek) Kalopsidiotis started in the entertainment business as a musician in the pubs and clubs of West London at age 14. After leaving school he had a brief spell as a professional musician but soon found he preferred the other side of the mixing desk. After a spell doing sound in the same pubs and clubs in West London in the heyday of punk rock, his skills at changing guitar strings saw him transferred to doing back line. In reality in those days a roadie did a bit of everything including driving a 7.5t truck.

In the 80's he worked as a stage hand and on lighting crews, the latter of which led to two different roles. Rigging the points and being a lighting designer. Function took preference over art and so began a concentration on all aspects of rigging. This was interspersed with a bit of stage managing and a lot of non stop world tours.

After a stint as head rigger with U2, touring firstly arenas and then huge stadiums, Peter went back the pubs and clubs of West London as production manager for the then up and coming Jamiroquai. A role that he continued in for 10 years by which time they progressed to arenas and stadiums ! He continued as head rigger for U2 as well as production manager for Underworld until stopping touring in 2006. Since then he has run a small rigging company that services London venues and companies. He was one of the team instrumental in setting up the National Rigging Certificate and is a qualified assessor for the scheme. He has trained a s a lifting gear inspector and sits on the panel National Rigging Advisory Group. He enjoys training others to pass on the knowledge and experience that he has accrued in the past 35 years.
