Formed in 1977, Simple Minds have have had a long successful career and worked with a number of major artists and producers, as well as having performed on many high profile shows and events and toured internationally on a semi-regular basis since 1979.

Simple minds have undergone some personnel changes, the core of the band are the two remaining founding members, Jim Kerr  and Charlie Burchill, who have continued to write the bands material. The other current band members are keyboardist Andy Gillespie , drummer Mel Gaynor and bass guitarist Ged Grimes.

In the band's early days, Peter Gabriel selected Simple Minds as the opening act on several dates of his European tour, which helped raise the band's profile. In 1990 Simple Minds performed at the Mandela Day concert held at Wembley Stadium, London, a concert for the then-imprisoned Nelson Mandela. The band produced the song "Mandela Day", which they played live on the day.  In 2007 the band celebrated their 30th anniversary and embarked on a brief tour of Australia and New Zealand as guests of INXS. On 27th June 2008, Simple Minds played the 90th birthday tribute to Nelson Mandela in London's Hyde Park.

In 2014 Simple Minds were presented the Q Inspiration to Music Award by Manic Street Preachers frontman James Dean Bradfield.

38 years on and the band still excite their audiences with their high energy shows and performances, mixing some of their classic anthems with material from their new album 'Big Music'.

As the audio suppliers, Britannia Row's talented team are very familiar with the band. Lez Dwight worked with the band's Production on the audio specification and has provided the tour with an L-Acoustics K2 system. Front of House Engineer Oliver Gerrard 'GG' is using a Soundcraft Vi4 mixing desk and Monitor Engineer Dan Ungaretti is using a Digico SD1o. Also part of the Simple Minds team is Britannia Row Stage Technician Guilliame Burguez and PA Technician Johnny Keirle.
